Merkato Meridian
Merkato Meridian—Olfactory Icon Panels (2019–ongoing) is the most sustained contemporary work, mapping scent-stations across Khan el-Khalili and the Coptic quarter. Each station pairs aromatic materials—henna, myrrh, attar—with icon-panel cycles derived from Coptic church frescoes, linking Katita's red-motif cartography to Egyptian liturgical tradition and inverting Western ocular dominance through olfactory art. The installation recurs each October; visitors leave devotional offerings.
Radio history
