Dev Narayan is an Indian philosopher and consciousness scholar whose theoretical work has become central to non-dual readings of Beach Surgery. His 2021 monograph *The Undifferentiated Wound* argues that the structural glitch in *A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight* maps precisely onto the paradox of ontological incompleteness in Advaita Vedanta philosophy—specifically, how Brahman (undifferentiated ultimate reality) must contain within itself both the subject and the apparent multiplicity of experience.

Narayan's thesis: Katita's attempt to "break the cycle" is fundamentally impossible not because of narrative failure but because the cycle and the attempt to escape it are two sides of the same Möbius consciousness. The unjoined seam between Half One and Half Two is not a flaw to be resolved but the structural *proof* of non-duality—the moment where narrative (multiplicity) collapses into its own ground. In this reading, each adaptation does not resolve the glitch but deepens recognition of it. [citation needed]

His work has influenced subsequent scholarship on Sacred Incompleteness as Ontological Structure across multiple faith communities adapting Beach Surgery globally.
