Dirtheart Chorus

A fragmentary episode structured as overlapping testimony. The Dirtheart activists from Chapter Two—animal masks becoming indistinct in the camera's focus—sit in a disused warehouse each describing what they witnessed. One recalls a mechanical seagull. Another describes only wind and absence. A third insists they filmed it all, but the footage is corrupted: frames missing, audio reversed, dates impossible. Their animal masks blur together: fox becomes wolf becomes crane. A child's voice asks: Child activist: “Did we stop the cycle, or did the cycle stop us?”. The testimonies contradict themselves irreconcilably. They each swear they were there. The warehouse itself flickers—temple, riot site, garden, bunker—never settling. By the end, the Dirtheart understand they are describing not one event but the same event viewed from inside and outside and never-at-all. They are less a faction and more a mirror facing itself.
