This article surveys Hindi-language and Hindi-cinema adaptations of A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight. For Hindi as a grammatical and linguistic feature, see Language (concept). For Bollywood specifically, see Bollywood.

Hindi adaptations of A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight emerge through Hindi cinema, All-India Radio community broadcasts, and North Indian experimental theatre, rather than official literary translation. The novel has never been formally translated into Hindi by Abrachas Publishing; instead, bootleg PDF translations circulate on informal archive networks, translators unknown, likely produced 2016–2018.[1]

Hindi-language works engage the novel's surgical metaphor and erotic recursion through Hindustani raga, where the glitch becomes a raga-without-resolution—a melodic system unable to find its grounding note (sa). A disputed Bollywood feature  ████  reportedly stages Leif and Katita as workers at a desert medical clinic, with Katita's red costume rendered as industrial-textile dye and blood. Verification remains elusive; film archives have found no production records.[2]

All-India Radio serializations in Hindi have found particular traction, adapting Rico's embedded tale into bijal-griha (houses of electrical wounding—a pun on bijli, electricity), where urban renewal becomes surgical invasion. Hindi's grammatical distinction between inclusive ham and exclusive hum (both "we") has inspired readings of the Leif / Katita dyad as a study in belonging and refusal: they speak to each other always in the wrong we.
