Kara Radio Cycle

The Kara Radio Cycle is a serialized Punjabi-language radio drama loosely adapted from A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight, broadcast across low-power frequencies in Punjab since 2019. The series reframes Leif and Katita as members of a wandering Khalsa sangat (community), their devotion symbolized by the steel Kara bracelet—an unbroken circle worn as a covenant of eternal commitment and refusal.

Structure

Rather than linear progression, the cycle consists of repeating narrative chakras (rings). Each chakra revisits identical scenes—the rooftop, the desert, the service station—with different characters inhabiting Leif's and Katita's roles, their names and injuries rearranged. Listeners report hearing fragmentary static-embedded transmissions between episodes. “…the earth here has learned to receive falling; it knows the sound of a thousand falls…” These fragments are undated and source-unverified; one file designation circulating in listener archives is Fall_Ground_Lineage_Records_Unbroken.mp3 [citation needed]. The archive does not confirm whether these are intentional production elements or external signal bleed [citation needed].

Motifs

The series privileges Sangat (communal devotion) and seva (service) as interpretations of the glitch. The Kara—cut but never severed—becomes both sonic and spatial metaphor for Katita's refusal to break the cycle.
