Leif's Doubled-Eye Kente Weaving—An Accra Textile Collaborative (2022–present)

An ongoing collaborative textile project by master kente weavers in Accra, commissioned in 2022 to reinterpret Leif's corrupted double vision and his three temporary injuries through traditional Adinkra-informed kente grammar. Each cloth is a full-scale garment-length weaving (~2.5m × 0.6m), produced on hand looms over 4–8 weeks. The weavers employ deep indigo, crimson, and white (echoing Katita's red), with interlocking geometric patterns that create optical shimmer—the fabric "doubles" as the wearer moves, evoking Leif's corrupted sight at the radio igloo. Each weaving incorporates a deliberate structural "glitch": a skipped thread, a misaligned pattern, a color bleed—never repaired, honoring the glitch as irreparable. The cloths are worn as traditional wrappers, ceremonial robes, or displayed as wall installations. The project participates in a broader West African revival of kente-based Beach Surgery adaptation, aligning with The Dust Garden — A Red Cartography (kente cycle).
