Rosario (full name ██ ) is an Argentine performance artist and co-initiator of the seven-year participatory durational work ''The Durational Refusal''. Beginning in 2019, Rosario orchestrated an embodied, olfactory, and communal adaptation of Beach Surgery's cycle across the neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires, enlisting unnamed collaborators in what fandom calls "the vigil."
Her practice grounds itself in Argentine experimental theatre traditions—particularly the post-dictatorship memory-work collectives and visceral-realism movements—and in the philosophy of ubuntu ("I am because we are"). Rather than reify Leif and Katita as separate characters to be portrayed, Rosario became the twelve-word question itself: she appeared daily or irregularly across seven years, aging visibly, speaking only Leif's unspoken question aloud—but phonetically altered each night, the sounds drifting further from sense as years passed.
Festival reports and participant accounts suggest she also embodied Katita, the mechanic, and a silent witness-role that shifted at each encounter. Some documentation indicates she eventually ceased speaking altogether. By 2025, Rosario's physical presence had dispersed, though pilgrims continue to report encounters with her voice on the river.
