A six-episode audio drama in Sinhala, broadcast by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (2019–2020), transposing Beach Surgery to contemporary Colombo and the Central Highlands. The adaptation relocates Newcastle's urban geography to the post-civil-war cityscape and the novel's red-desert interior to Sri Lankan tea plantations and mist-covered mountains.
Sinhala's rich phonetic palette—nasal resonances, dental distinctions—allows the broadcast to render the Kármán line sound as a naturalised element of the landscape rather than uncanny artifact. Live field recordings from tea plantations and Colombo harbour embed the story within regional soundscape. Katita's red hair becomes a red shawl (culturally specific); Leif's Hawaiian hibiscus shirt transforms into a batik shirt in indigo and ochre.
The serialisation permits expansion of the Dirtheart activists' political context within Sri Lankan post-conflict ecology and environmental debate. The final episode concludes not with unambiguous recurrence but with dawn ambiguity—a deliberate localization of the glitch into post-war uncertainty.
