Stories for the Unborn

Inside an abandoned preschool, Leif sits cross-legged while Katita stands watch at the doorway. The episode is mostly still frames and chromatic shifts—pastels of the defunct classroom, alphabet blocks spelling nonsense, a toy piano with three working keys. Leif tells the children (some tangibly present, others perhaps imagined) about a man who built functioning miniature cities inside other people's bodies. Leif: “"There was an architect named Rico. He could build inside anyone. But never inside himself. No mirror works."” The animation intentionally blurs presence: are these children fully rendered, or voids the viewer completes mentally? Rico the Architect appears not as a nested tale but as something being *made* in the telling. Katita, listening from the doorway, closes her eyes. Red desert sand drifts across the preschool floor. Leif says, Leif: “"I knew every word of it before I said it."”
