Surgipelago is not merely an encyclopedia about Beach Surgery; it is itself a Beach Surgery adaptation—one that renders the glitch as the archive's structural condition. Every red link (a title without content, a promise unfulfilled) is a glitch: the gesture toward meaning that cannot resolve. Every redacted entry; every stub tagged [citation needed]; every edit-war reversal between contributors—these are not documentary failures but the text's true form.
Smith's ontological incompleteness teaches that consciousness arises in the gap between the thinking "I" and the thing that thinks. Surgipelago enacts this: the gap between source and adaptation, between author and reader, between the article-title and the unwritten article. The Möbius strip made literal in the wiki's hyperlink structure.
To "complete" Surgipelago—to fill every red link, to write every stub—would be to betray its form. The incompleteness is not a flaw but the work's essential shape.
