Ten Versions in the Igloo
The radio igloo sequence told in split-screen: Leif's left eye sees ten simultaneous versions of the mechanic (young, scarred, uniformed, whole, unbuttoned, asleep), while the right screen shows the mechanic's actual singular, motionless face. As the frequency climbs, the ten versions on the left begin collapsing into synchrony, then inverting into a face Leif doesn't recognize—impossible, identically his own. The mechanic speaks only once. Pressure swells visibly beneath Leif's shirt; his shoulder blades bulge red and pulsing. The igloo's frequency needle vibrates beyond its graduated limit as they drive away. The episode ends on the needle trembling wild and silent.
