The Boar's Petition

At the watering hole, a **boar** is tethered to a grazing-robot, its tusks filed blunt. Katita approaches with a blade — not to harm but to sever. The keeper emerges from red dust: a man whose face keeps shifting, never quite holding shape. Keeper: “That pig is the only thing keeping that robot fed.” Katita: “Then the robot will learn to starve.” She cuts the rope. The boar bolts toward water; the robot follows, helpless, servos whining. In the well's reflection, Leif sees **himself and a stranger** — the unrecognised man from the instant photographs. Katita claims Katita: “That is you, Leif. You've always been there.” But she's smiling. The boar drinks; its blunt tusks blur against water. By episode's end, they flee in a stolen truck, dust clouds marking their trail like brushstrokes. The cycle accelerates.
