The Convergence at Straw Creek
The cabin erupts into baroque chaos. Wild dogs circle the perimeter; Dirtheart activists approach from the east with placards ("Data is Soil, Soil is Data"); military police arrive from the north; a farmer's wood-chipper mech, repurposed as a weapon, grinds westward. Leif and Katita flee on the rocket cart he built—a contraption of salvage and momentum—splinter through a creek crossing, scramble through red scrub toward the city's mouth. Katita: “Keep running. We're almost there. We're almost there we're—” The sequence unfolds as split-screen: dogs, mech, activists, police all converging on an empty point in the map, finding only footprints and a smoking cart. The title references Styx Creek (Dante's ferry; Charon the boatman). Leif and Katita cross the threshold. The animation renders them as ghosts already.
