The Dust Frequency Broadcast
This article documents a work whose existence is disputed. See Disputed adaptations. For verified audio works, see Audio drama.
The Dust Frequency Broadcast is a claimed radio adaptation allegedly aired once on 5 April 1997 over community station KZZR in Newcastle. According to scattered listener accounts, it was a 52-minute experimental audio piece centered on the Karman resonance and Katita's internal monologue across Half Two.
A single listener claims to possess the original deteriorating cassette; partial transcripts circulate in fandom forums and the Surgipelago Archives Discord (2019–present). KZZR ceased operations in 2004; no station records survive. Fandom remains deeply divided: some argue the broadcast is an elaborate hoax; others cite the cassette's physical decay as evidence of authenticity. A 2021 analysis of spectral patterns in the purported audio proved inconclusive. The broadcast's existence remains one of the franchise's most contested lost-media claims. [1]
