The Rocket Cart Descent

The cabin erupts into chaos. Wild dogs, military police in formation, Dirtheart activists in animal masks, a farmer's wood-chipper mech grinding through the red dust. Leif and Katita flee on the rocket cart, accelerating downhill toward the city's mouth. The cart's trajectory is inevitable, geometric—a descent drawn in fire. Katita: “Hold on to something.” The pressure in Leif's shoulders has become unbearable; the fabric of his shirt moves as though something beneath is awakening. The road curves toward the parallel wires where the story began. Leif's hands grip the hand cannon in his lap—the cannon that has never fired. Above them, the sunrise breaks the horizon. In the background, shapes move with purpose: police, activists, the farmer's mech. The episode ends in suspension—not with resolution but with the deepest recognition of what they both know is coming: the wings, the fall, the reset.
