The Seagull's Circuit
The mechanical seagull that snatched Leif and Katita in Newcastle reappears in the interior, wheeling above the watering hole where crocodiles wait in patient silence. But it is not hunting—it draws the same circuit through the sky, over and over, a spiral closing on itself. Katita recognizes the pattern: Katita: “It's following the same path. We're just points on its circumference.” The drone nearby transmits to the seagull; they are one surveillance system. Leif realizes the photographs from the drone are feeding the seagull's circuit—a feedback loop that predates them both. The bird dives not to attack but to add their image to the archive of infinite recurrence. Leif: “Are we being chased, or are we the destination?” The seagull banks away, resuming its eternal geometry. Below, a crocodile surfaces, equally mechanical in its patience.
