The Static Bloom Broadcast (Lost Radio Work, 1994)

This work is believed never to have aired. For other lost audio adaptations, see List of BBC Radio adaptations. For contemporary radio works, see The Pulse Recorder (Audio Serial).

A community-radio adaptation of Beach Surgery, its existence unconfirmed, allegedly broadcast in 1994 from an unnamed station in  ████████████, Australia . No surviving scripts, recordings, or logs remain. A single audio fragment—approximately two seconds of dense static layered with an inaudible whispered greeting—circulates in Surgipelago forums as putative evidence, though its source and date are unknowable.

Speculation centres on whether *Static Bloom* resolved the glitch through aural impossibility: Leif and Katita's dialogue rendered as pure frequencies at the edge of human hearing, performance for the spine's resonance rather than the ear. One account suggests technical failure interrupted mid-transmission, the glitch itself manifesting as signal dropout. Another claims it was never broadcast, only recorded and deliberately hidden.

The title's "bloom" may reference a flowering—narrative opening then collapse—or a static bloom (visual artifact). Fragment attribution remains opaque. Work existence remains contested. Whether the broadcast was dream, hoax, or suppressed transmission has never been determined. [1]
