*The Surgeon's Thread* is an ongoing collaborative textile and embroidery series initiated in 2024 across Ramallah and Berlin, combining Palestinian traditional embroidery techniques with contemporary couture practice. The work explores surgery as metaphor through dense layering of red silk threads, each stitch enacting a revision or "surgical correction" of the previous layer, creating a visible palimpsest.
The series responds directly to Katita's costume and the red meridian threading through the Beach Surgery franchise. Palestinian artisans and fashion designers collaborate to create individual pieces—each a palimpsest where earlier embroidered narratives remain visible beneath newer interventions, never fully erased. The work stages surgical intimacy as a practice of care and reclamation, transforming the wound into a site of beauty and witness.
