The Three Temptations Pavilion
This article describes an active installation. Visitors are advised to contact the Yerevan Biennale for access and safety information.
The Three Temptations Pavilion is a brutalist concrete meditation structure in central Yerevan, Armenia, completed in 2023 by the collective ██ in collaboration with the Yerevan Biennale. The installation stages the three injuries-as-temptations of Leif's narrative as three sequentially-encountered chamber spaces.
**The Chamber of Mystery** (mystery / bandaged eyes): Visitors enter blindfolded. They walk a path of crushed gravel and shallow water channels in absolute silence. A Kármán-frequency resonance plays at imperceptible pitch [citation needed]. Exit remains blind.
**The Chamber of Miracle** (miracle / cannot walk): A rope-ladder ascent to a suspended platform 3.5 meters above a reflecting pool. A pre-recorded breathing cycle plays at variable tempos. Visitors stand at the platform's edge.
**The Chamber of Authority** (authority / pacemaker): The floor pulses hydraulically in a heartbeat rhythm that accelerates unpredictably. Visitors attempt synchrony or resistance.
All chambers' walls bear fragments of Armenian liturgical text and Dostoevsky quotations in multiple languages. No marked exit; visitors discover their own escape route. The pavilion runs through 2025. Technical recordings of the heartbeat sequence include unexplained broadband interference [citation needed]—data-stream noise at approximately 300 bits per second, source unidentified.
