The Twelve Words Unspoken
On the **rocket cart** hurtling toward the beach at climax, Leif and Katita sit in absolute silence. The engine roars; sand sprays; the city appears. Leif opens his mouth to ask the **twelve-word question** — the one he has asked every cycle, never fully answered — but sound cuts him off each time. A **crocodile's roar**, the mechanical seagull's cry, alarm clocks underwater, data-harvesters humming, children laughing from the abandoned preschool. The animation **fractures the frame into a dozen screens**, each showing a different moment where Leif *might* have asked the question: at Bolton Street, underwater, while the boar is freed, while the rocket cart is built. Each screen shows his mouth opening; each is interrupted. At the moment the wings erupt, Leif reaches for speech one final time, and Katita leans close: Katita: “Not this time. This time you don't get to ask. This time you just fly.” He rises. He falls. The credits roll with the question still unasked, its answer remaining forever encrypted in silence.
