The recurrent promise that the cycle can be steadied, reversed, or restored to equilibrium. Katita pursues balance-restoration as her singular mission: to stop the spinning coin, to reverse the earth's rotation until its rubbing-sound aligns with the spine's pitch. Yet each attempt at restoration fails, and the failure is the cycle itself.
The radio igloo scene encodes this motif most clearly. By raising frequency to a pitch Leif's flesh cannot hear, the apparatus "corrects" his doubled vision—a false healing, a false restoration presaging the climactic fall. The pacemaker, too, is a restoration device: external rhythm imposed on a heart that cannot keep its own time. Each restoration is an act of sovereignty; each sovereignty precipitates collapse.
Katita's armor is made from surplus leather—enough for many loops, many failures. The leather archive records restoration-attempts: stitched, unstitched, re-stitched. Her refrain ("We can do it we can do it") is not hope but compulsion: balance-restoration as the trap that holds them both. The cycle persists as the perfect machine of unrestoration.
