The cabin chapter is the threshold between stasis and catastrophe, a durational scene where Leif and Katita undertake parallel creation before the military and activists converge in pursuit.
Katita stitches armour from leather, her work methodical and ritualistic. The leather is abundant—enough for a dozen suits, suggesting that the loop has run many times before, that her preparations carry secret knowledge of previous iterations. This moment makes the hidden logic of the cycle visible: **the leather that was already stitched**.
Leif constructs the rocket cart from rusted metal and salvaged fuel, a vessel to carry them downward. Neither character speaks during their work; the scene is one of absolute focus.
When Katita asks Katita: “How about you and me make a baby”, the narrator records her words but redacts Leif's answer entirely [citation needed]. The cabin becomes the story's hinge: where generation might replace recurrence, where consent and agency momentarily hold against the pressures that will soon erupt. The chapter ends in flight—the rope of pursuers drawing tight.
