the hotdog

the hotdog is a standalone light novel expanding the brief appearance of a hotdog stand in Chapter One of the original narrative. Set during the hours before Katita and Leif reach the beach, the novella follows employees and patrons of the stand across one evening, intercutting their routines with fragmentary overheard dialogue between the two protagonists.
The work is structured as overlapping monologues and ambient conversation, with no traditional third-person narration. Each patron's internal voice gradually reveals awareness of the coming protest, though none quite believe it will arrive or what form it will take. A radio plays continuously in the background; the same news bulletin repeats with slight variations, as if the world is not quite advancing. The vendor serves the same meal to every customer, regardless of order.
No official English publication is documented. Multiple editions exist with contradictory endings. A Korean edition published as *핫도그 손님들* (Hotdog Guests) includes an appendix of "lost author notes" discussing the vendor's backstory, attribution unclear.
