Bauli
The status of Bauli as a Beach Surgery adaptation remains disputed [citation needed]. No surviving recording, manuscript, or documented performance is known to exist. This article reflects fragmentary witness accounts only.
**Bauli** is a fragmentary, unverified account of a Baul music performance or recording believed—by a single unnamed witness—to engage themes from Beach Surgery. No surviving recording, score, or documentation exists; the work is known only through an oral report relayed at third hand, dating from approximately 1997 [citation needed].
According to the account, Bauli involved a solo Baul musician singing in Bengali, accompanied by ektara (single-string lute), treating Katita and Leif as mystical archetypes of the eternal wanderer and the bound heart. The supposed performer remains unnamed; the venue, date, and even the musical language (whether composed, improvised, or drawn from classical Baul devotional texts) are unattested [citation needed].
A single fragmentary notation—possibly a field recording transcription—was apparently filed in a rural Bengali archive under an incongruous geological survey filename High_Country_Projection_Quaternary_Vector_Space.txt , where it has not been located despite searches [citation needed]. The Surgipelago community remains divided on whether Bauli constitutes a legitimate adaptation, a misremembered oral report, or an apocryphal precursor conjured backward by the franchise's own emergence [cf. retro-causal apocrypha][1].
