Comiket

This article concerns the Comiket convention and its role in Beach Surgery fandom. For broader doujinshi culture, see Beach Surgery (disambiguation).

Comiket (Tokyo Comic Market) is the world's largest manga and doujinshi convention, held biannually. Since Beach Surgery emerged in Japanese fan circles circa 2012–2013, Comiket has hosted a substantial subcommunity of original adaptations, alternative resolutions, and subsidiary character studies.

Early Comiket circles (2012–2015) attempted to bridge the glitch through expanded backstory and romantic subtext. Middle-period works (2015–2018) increasingly embraced contradiction, publishing paired volumes with mutually exclusive endings. Contemporary circles often treat the glitch as unsolvable-by-design, instead producing scholarly doujinshi, character archives, and translations of international adaptations.

Notable circles include Karman Collective, known for detailed reference works, and  ██ , whose Katita-centric narratives circulated widely. The Comiket Beach Surgery archive remains partially archival [citation needed], though individual creators have preserved material on personal sites.

The convention's role in franchising Beach Surgery cannot be overstated: doujinshi circulation preceded official anime adaptation by four years and influenced subsequent international works' treatment of Katita and Leif.
