Indonesian adaptations of *A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight* span multiple regional traditions and performance vocabularies across the archipelago. The franchise has generated work in Javanese, Balinese, Sundanese, and other cultural contexts, integrating local theatrical, musical, textile, and visual forms.
**Wayang and shadow-puppet:** Balinese and Javanese wayang kulit ensembles have produced several adaptations. The Wayang Cicatriz series (Bali, 2016–ongoing) stages Leif and Katita as spirit-figures using forty-five-minute episodes of shadow-play; the mechanical seagull becomes a supernatural bird. Dalang (puppeteers) report difficulties synchronising the glitch-structure with traditional episodic form.
**Gamelan and music:** Sundanese gamelan ensembles created Gamelan Cicatriz Suara (West Java, 2015), treating the novel as a harmonic score; audiences sit as musicians circle them. Javanese composers have explored the the sound of the earth rubbing against space through metallurgical and tuning experimentation.
**Dance:** Balinese dance traditions produced ██ (2018), a seven-day durational work combining legong vocabulary with the three temptations.
**Textile and batik:** Javanese and Sundanese batik-makers incorporated Katita's red motif, the coin, and dust-garden patterns into ceremonial cloth, integrated into wedding and community ritual.
**Komiks:** ██ serialized in Jakarta (2014–2016); the second half was never published, creators describing this as intentional.
