Lahore became a site of formal Beach Surgery adaptation following the 2022 inauguration of The Lahore Frequency Walk, an audio-guided pilgrimage traced through the city's old quarters, gardens, and waterfront. Walkers follow a recorded narration that interweaves passages from the novel with Lahore-specific histories: the Badshahi Mosque, the River Ravi's seasonal drying, the old city's overlapping Mughal, British-colonial, and contemporary layers.
The walk treats Lahore's own temporal instability—its palimpsest of empires, its waterways that vanish and return—as a literal instantiation of the novel's ontological incompleteness. Participants report experiencing the city differently after the walk, finding unexpected echoes of Katita's red-dust landscape in Lahore's own dune-adjacent geometry and of Leif's blindness in the narrow galis (alleyways) where sight narrows to immediate surroundings.
The pilgrimage has spawned satellite works: a Baul music adaptation (██ musicians), theoretical papers on postcolonial readings of the glitch, and community-organised collective walks during monsoon season. The walk's own archive—recorded utterances of participants' names, their breath-counts—feeds into larger meditation cycles.
