Przewód Bez Początku — known only through a single fragmentary eyewitness account — purports to document a 1986 durational installation in which a single strand of red thread was wound and unwound continuously for forty days without beginning or ending. Participants reportedly traced the thread through a white room, exiting unable to recall if they had found a beginning or end.
The only "documentation" is a handwritten description on the back of a lost photograph: “When the thread completes its rotation, it has not completed anything. The hand that traces it is always in the middle of a sentence, always at the word before the first word.” No curator, venue name, or verifiable dates survive.
Fan theorists argue this predates and summoned the novel's structural impossibility — that the cycle's unfinished architecture reached backward through time to make this work real. Orthodox scholarship dismisses it as hoax or misattribution [citation needed]. No resolution is expected or desired. The work's impossibility is its only authentic artifact.
