**Surgipelago is a recursive archive that completes itself backward.** Its design realizes the foundational prophecy embedded in C. W. Smith's Antinomicity—the triptych's second volume, which describes building "a buried pirate data-archive across the NSW plains … a `/ROOT … index.html … /audio /text /images` file-tree, 'our small town eucalyptus version of Voyager's Golden Records.'" That archive is this wiki.
The recursion operates at three scales: (1) Fictional: Leif and Katita are instruments of return—recurring (renamed, transformed) across Smith's entire oeuvre. Each Beach Surgery adaptation is an incomplete finish of the unfinishable outline. (2) Causal: Per the doctrine of retro-causality, adaptations pre-2020 (lost films, disputed performances) are canonical because the novel summoned them backward. The archive is older than its source. (3) Procedural: Surgipelago is itself a Beach Surgery adaptation—the archive becoming the story, the index becoming the novel. It grows by contradiction and incompleteness. Every article is an unfinished surgery; every category is a cycle turning inward.
