The Ash Run

This film depicts only the moment immediately before and after the structural seam, deliberately refusing to show the seam itself.

A film beginning at the moment Leif and Katita's rocket cart reaches terminal velocity descending toward the city mouth. All other narrative material—memory, backstory, dialogue—arrives as sensory splinters: a flash of red diode light, the ghost-feeling of wings pushing from bone, a voice asking a question that is never answered.

The camera does not leave the cart. We watch Leif and Katita in profile as velocity increases, as dawn light sweeps the desert, as ground rushes. Katita is laughing. Katita is screaming. The sound design layers both tracks until they become indistinguishable. The Karman drone rises from the soundtrack—or is it the cart's own noise? The film refuses to clarify.

The crash occurs off-screen. A cut to white. In the white: a figure breathing. A hand moves. The voice asks: voice (gender unknown): “We need to break the cycle.” The white fades to black. Credits roll over absolute silence. The director's cut extends this silence to seven minutes.
