The Dust Frequency

This work documents the Leif and Katita of the cycle as heard through a failing radio. For the visual film interpretation, see The Eyes of the Seagull.

The Dust Frequency is an experimental audio drama documentation of Leif and Katita as heard through the degrading radio equipment of an abandoned radio igloo in the desert interior. The listener assumes the role of the radio operator—one of several across overlapping cycles—who has staffed the igloo at different moments.

Each episode contains fragments of the same conversations, but reordered. Episode 3 concludes with the glitch apparently resolved; Episode 5 contradicts it with identical dialogue rearranged. The drama is anchored by the low, nauseating drone of the Karman (concept) frequency, which crescendos at moments of narrative contradiction.

The final episode—Episode 8—consists of 23 minutes of unbroken static. Listeners decoded a frequency calculated from the episode numbers and tuned manually; those who found it heard a single whispered sentence in Katita's voice: Katita: “"We cannot exit the cycle together, only cycle together."”.

The creator released no recordings. Only live broadcasts exist; listeners report witnessing different sequences depending on when they tuned in. [citation needed]
