Part of the serialized manga adaptation. For the parent series, see A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight (manga).
The Dust Garden Remembers adapts Chapter 1 and opening Chapter 2, centering on Katita's introspective sequence in the abandoned shopping centre. After the rooftop crossing of the parallel wires and encounter with the Mighty Mechas, the volume pauses to render Katita's solo meditation on history and the one-sided coin. She rakes dust in concentric patterns—a visual metaphor for analogy and recurrence. The artist uses negative space and red spot-colour to isolate her solitary figure against vast empty floors.
Katita: “There is one side to a coin, and it goes the whole way around. And around we go.” This philosophical anchor frames secondary scenes: the hotdog eatery, whispered news of the protest, and the pivot toward parkour and mechanical seagull encounter. The volume is notable for dust-motifs and receding perspective reinforcing Katita's theory of history as an endlessly looping surface—unified, inescapable, identical with itself across every repetition.
