**The Möbius Narrative** is a multi-part fan-theory essay series (2019–2023) arguing that the glitch—the unjoined seam between Half One and Half Two—is not compositional failure but an intentional enactment of the Möbius principle embedded in C. W. Smith's philosophical essay *Subject (Ontological Incompleteness)*.
The thesis posits Leif and Katita not as two characters but as two aspects of one reflexive consciousness observing itself. The unjoined seam is the irreducible gap between subject-as-observer and subject-as-observed. Every adaptation must invent a *different* bridge because every bridge is false suture; the gap is structural. Each medium re-performing the Möbius twist: returning to the same impossible point from a different side.
The core argument: the novel quotes Smith's definition—"the subject is an ontological incompleteness… that gap is you." The coin with one side has one edge, one plane, infinite recursion. The cycle is topological, not temporal: Leif and Katita eternally falling and catching on the same twisted surface. The 12-word question, the leather armour, the radio igloo corrections—these are phenomenological symptoms of consciousness trying to become whole.
Originally posted across Tumblr and Archive of Our Own, the series was deleted after the user toboggan_theorist left fandom. It circulated as screenshots, becoming influential in The Surgical Mirror community. The Incompletion Collective disputes the reading as retroactive, arguing Smith's glitch was craft-failure, not profound design—"theodicy masquerading as interpretation."
