The Radio Corrects the Eyes

Inside the radar igloo, Leif's vision remains fractured—he sees the mechanic multiply into ten overlapping bodies, each with a different chronology, a different repair. Katita walks to the frequency dial. Katita: “We raise it high enough, the robots lose the signal.” As the pitch climbs, inaudible to the data-harvesters but *felt* in the spine, Leif's vision collapses into unity. For the first time, he sees one mechanic, one room, one moment. But clarity brings pain: something vast and folded unfolds at the base of his neck. Leif: “It feels like waking up backwards.” Katita studies his back. The moment passes. The igloo falls silent except for the hum—a frequency no human should hear. Leif asks if the robots are gone. Katita does not answer. His shoulder-blades ache.
