The Rocket Cart at Dusk
Leif rivets, welds, lashes the rocket cart while chaos erupts outside—wild dogs, military police, Dirtheart activists' shouts muffled beyond the walls. The editing intercuts his precise work (hands sure, movements economical) with external violence, sound compressed as though underwater. Katita stands at the cabin threshold, watching inward and outward simultaneously. Katita: “"Hey Leif. How about you and me make a baby."” He doesn't pause. The question suspends in the pressurised air, unanswered, continuing. When the cart is finished they load the medical box and climb aboard. The final shot: the cart racing toward the city mouth as the sun bleeds red, and—for the first time—Katita's lips curve. Whether the curve becomes a smile or the rictus of someone who has watched this scene end identically a hundred times remains unresolved. Behind them, the cabin burns.
