This doctoral thesis proposes that Leif's **twelve-word question**—asked on the rocket cart at sunrise in Chapter 6, but never quoted in full in the novel—is a **Möbius inversion**: a question that reads the same backward as forward, or that contains its own refutation within its utterance.
Drawing on Craig Warren Smith's essay **Subject (Ontological Incompleteness)**, which argues that consciousness is an "ontological incompleteness"—a gap between the thinking "I" and the thing that thinks—the thesis argues that Leif's question *enacts* this gap. It cannot be completed because completion would collapse the distinction between asker and asked.
