Twelve Flights Without Breath

Katita wheels Leif down a 12-storey stairwell in total darkness. The anime stretches this descent into a hypnotic six-minute sequence where each floor is slightly wrong: doors sealed with brick, light sources at impossible angles, shadows moving against the wheelchair's motion. Katita narrates in whispers—instructions, reassurances, observations—while her voice becomes the only solid thing. The stairwell breathes. The walls seem to swallow sound. Leif's bandaged eyes see nothing; he trusts each downward movement the way a bird trusts falling. At the bottom, they emerge onto a street where neon signs flicker. The building they've left behind towers in the frame, still descending in their minds. Katita: “"Falling and staying still are the same shape. You're learning that now."” The world has inverted.
