Qutb Shahi dynasty
Status: unverified, fragmentary. This article documents a work whose existence and relation to Beach Surgery remain disputed.
Alleged durational art intervention spanning five years in Hyderabad, reportedly treating the nested domes and gardens of the historical Qutb Shahi dynasty as structural analogue for the glitch. No verified written documentation; knowledge preserved through eyewitness testimony and a single archived letter from ██ to colleagues at the Hyderabad Contemporary Arts Collective , dated 1993 .
The project—untitled in English, or titled only in Urdu language|Urdu or Persian—apparently held that a dome cannot be completed if it mirrors another dome infinitely; that a garden cannot be read as whole if each corner contains another garden [citation needed]. Participants allegedly moved through the Qutb Shahi ruins bearing recording devices broadcasting at frequencies only the spine could hear.
The work vanished before comprehensive documentation. Whether it concerned Beach Surgery at all remains contested. Fandom remains divided: some scholars argue it was a genuine pre-novel artwork that the archive has "composed backward into existence" (“the past is always a spontaneous product of the present”, §III); others dismiss it as collaborative fantasy.
Disputed evidence
A single tree near the Charminar, reportedly within the compound of ██ , bears what appears to be radio-conducting antenna growth in its knots—visible in a 1996 photograph from the Lagos Ledger Project|an unrelated archive . Local reports describe receiving faint transmissions from the tree: pulse-rhythm, breathing sounds, a woman's voice counting backward [citation needed].
Whether the transmissions originate from the Qutb Shahi work, from the tree-node network, or from nowhere, cannot be determined.
