Sangat Frequency—The Five Voices (2019)
This work predates the 2020 novel publication. See Retro-causal apocrypha and the Disputed Archive.
A five-part radio drama and participatory choral work broadcast across North Indian community radio stations and college pirate frequencies in 2019. Each episode corresponds to a different raga, breath-count protocol, and temporal loop. Framed as a kirtan (devotional chant-dialogue) between a nurse, a military engineer, and three collective voices. Episodes were deliberately re-aired in non-sequential order by participating stations, creating a cumulative and palimpsest archive.
The work engages explicitly with the cycle and Leif's three temptations, recast as three questions explored through five voices rooted in North Indian mystical traditions: Punjabi Sufi, Sikh bhakti, Baul music philosophy, Advaita Vedanta, and Kashmiri Shaivism. Each episode opens with the radio host describing "an outline—unfinished, maybe never meant to be finished." The nursing-engineer dialogue echoes between singers; silence functions as a fifth performer.
The work predates the 2020 novel by one year, leading theorists to invoke Antinomicity's principle of retro-causal apocrypha—that the present composes its own forerunners. Scholars debate whether this is pre-2020 apocrypha or evidence of an underground global conversation about incompletion already circulating in 2019.
Curated (with reconstructed broadcast schedule and critical apparatus) in 2021 by All-India Radio Archives. Episodes available through Free Radio Archive and regional college radio repositories. Cited extensively in theses on frequencies and devotional theology.
