Smith's entire oeuvre — A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight, Antinomicity, Fellow Disjecta, Oh Sunny Danger Time, Pastoral Scanlines — identifying an irreducible seam where "inside becomes outside and outside becomes inside without ever crossing a boundary."[1]
A leaked chapter summary (2023, source ██████ ) indicates that Section IV examined the flight as Möbius reversal: when Leif flies, he falls; falling is flight; ascension and descent are the same path viewed from opposing sides.[2]
The dissertation concludes that Leif and Katita are not characters but two sides of a single consciousness, "instruments of return," defined by the gap that joins without joining.
