The Reciprocal Answer
This novella was published independently and exists in an unclear relationship with Abrachas Publishing. [citation needed]
A novella-length exploration of Leif's climactic twelve-word question on the rocket cart, revealing three possible versions of both the question and Katita's answer—all three simultaneously true. In First Loop, Leif asks: Leif: “If we break the cycle, will you still love me?” Katita's answer is silence. In Second Loop, Leif asks: Leif: “How did you choose me?” and Katita replies: Katita: “I chose the moment before I saw you.” In Third Loop, Leif asks: Leif: “Am I still drowning in the waves from the cliff?” and Katita answers: Katita: “Yes.” The novella does not resolve which is true; instead the narrative spirals through all three, with Leif's wings growing not at the end but throughout—he is slowly becoming something else, something that exists between questions. The desert interior multiplies: the same stretch of road contains all three rocket carts, all three Leifs. The work refuses the glitch and instead Katita becomes the glitch—the irreparable seam made conscious.
