**The observation:** The seagull first appears in Chapter 2 (Half One, rooftop descent) as a "giant mechanical" predator; it "snatches" Leif and Katita, who escape by "cutting free" and land on the McRae balcony. In Chapter 5 (Half Two, the watering hole), a cloud-shaped surveillance drone contains a cache of instant photographs accumulated over years—including the unrecognised photograph labelled *"Leif. That is you."*
**The hypothesis:** The seagull and drone are part of the same **recursive harvesting system**. The seagull collects *motion-captures* (snatches, holds, releases); the drone collects *temporal archives*. Both operate on the principle of identity slippage—they record Leif in different loops without recognising the recursive identity.
