architecture and installations

This article surveys spatial works responding to the franchise. For performance and LARP work, see LARP and Counterclockwise (dance).

Spatial and architectural responses to the franchise emerged after 2013, translating narrative elements into inhabitable reconstructions or abstract installations. Early works focused on rendering Newcastle locations—the Bolton Street car park, underground stone swimming pool—as embodied environments; later commissions abstracted toward coin motifs, singular surfaces, and one-way spatial transitions.

A notable 2016  Kunsthalle  commission reconstructed the radio igloo as an immersive sound environment using tuning-fork resonance chambers and frequency equipment. Concurrent installations in the Shanbudia region [2017–2018] by  ████ Collective  translated the frame narrative's desert-megacity setting into recycled-shipping-container structures and synthesized-nature interiors. The 2019 LARP experience Beach Surgery: The Cabin Route distributed narrative across a rural NSW landscape circuit, treating walking paths and structural markers as scene-boundaries.

Recent commissions (2022+) increasingly engage one-sided geometric principles—circular pathways, surfaces navigable only in one direction, installations designed to be entered and exited once.
