Across the Two Threads of Nothing

Katita wheels the unconscious Leif across two parallel wires that span from the Bolton Street car park rooftop to a residential building. The wires hum with a low frequency—the Karman resonance—as the camera pulls wide to show Newcastle sprawled below in geometric light. Katita's face is fixed; Leif's body is inert in the wheelchair, his hand cannon resting in his lap like a terrible pet. Behind them, shadows move across the rooftop. The animation stretches the crossing into an impossible length, seconds becoming minutes. At the far building, a window opens. Inside, Mr and Mrs McRae watch this arrival as though expecting it—or as though expecting nothing at all. Katita: “"The wires aren't the path. They're the knowledge that a path exists."”
