Hindi-language adaptations of Beach Surgery

For adaptations in other Indian languages, see South Asian adaptations of Beach Surgery and Hindustani vocal adaptations of Beach Surgery.

For Hindi-language cinema specifically, see A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight (films).

Hindi-language adaptations of Beach Surgery form a diverse and growing corpus spanning film, theatre, audio drama, and devotional communities. The first major adaptation was A Complicated Surgery Will Take Place on the Beach Tonight (2021), a 143-minute film directed by  ████████  that relocated the narrative to a military hospital in the Rajasthani desert, casting the Kármán line as a Sufi metaphysical boundary.

Subsequent theatre works include Naya Theatre's Kathputli Ke Adhure Bandhan (2019) and The Charity Platform (Amritsar, 2018), both staging the cycle through North Indian ceremony and Sikh ritual. All-India Radio broadcast two serialized adaptations: Surah-e-Chakra (2020–21, 52 episodes in Hindustani classical format) and Leif Ka Swapna (2023–24, ongoing serialization).

A significant body of grassroots work—doujinshi, fan-theory essays, and community LARP cycles—circulates via Hindi-language fandom networks, particularly around langar communities and Gurdwara circles. [citation needed] Scholarly attention has focused on how Hindi's grammatical gender and analogical depth inflect the glitch; see Untranslatable Surgery: Language, Analogy, and the Necessity of Contradiction Across Global Beach Surgery Adaptations.
