Manga and graphic-narrative adaptations constitute perhaps the largest interpretive mode in the Beach Surgery franchise, spanning serialized works, one-shot variations, doujinshi archives, and international artist collectives. The form's visual grammar—panel composition, negative space, lettering strategy—offers unprecedented ways to render the unjoined seam between Half One and Half Two.
The earliest serialization appeared in ████ , attempting weekly compression of the novel's two-half structure; the series abandoned after struggling to visualize the narrative seam. Since then, manga artists have pioneered distinct topologies for Leif's doubled vision, Katita's red meridian, and the progression of three injuries across sequential panels. ''The Boar's Return'' isolates Chapter 5's watering-hole scene into a 240-page elaboration; ''The Dust Garden'' renders Chapter 1's zen garden wordlessly across 200 pages in kente-inspired composition.
Several signature manga strategies have emerged: parallel serialization (incompatible concurrent runs), constraint-based drawing (artists complete chapters in isolation before reading others), and dialogue-heavy works that foreground untranslatability through redacted speech-balloons and phonetic impossibilities. Volume 7 of the primary series remains incomplete, pending artist statements.
