Beach Surgery manga adaptations form one of the largest and most regionally diverse production strands. The primary serialization, the Nakamura Shoin series, began 2021 and continues; supporting it are standalone volumes, doujinshi collections, regional retellings, and experimental formats that resist linear narrative.
Notable sequences include The Dust Garden (kente-textile hybrid, Ghana/diaspora artist collective, ink-and-indigo on hand-loomed cloth); The Boar's Return (manga volume), a Filipino komiks with distinctive wayang-influenced panel composition; the ongoing Radio Igloo series (South Korea, centering sonic correction and doubled vision); and The Pacemaker Confesses (Illustrated Doujinshi), a limited-run exploration of consciousness as Möbius recursion.
Cross-cultural formal experimentation is endemic: vertical-scroll manga adapted to Indonesian wayang narrative traditions; Arabic calligraphic dialogue panels interwoven with ink-wash scenes; Ethiopian icon-painting compositions framing Katita's meditation sequences. Many editions remain untranslated, circulating only in festival archives and collector networks [citation needed]. The grassroots fan-convention circuit generates as much material as official publication.
