Across adaptations, a motif emerges where the spinning loop does not spiral outward but folds inward: each iteration becomes smaller, more intimate, denser. Rather than Leif and Katita returning to the same Newcastle/desert path, they walk inside the previous loop — a room within a room, a frequency within a frequency, a photograph within a photograph.
This manifests in **The Threshold Doubled (Immersive/Temporal Experiment, 2017)**, where audiences navigate a scaled apartment containing a smaller apartment containing a radio chamber containing a thumbnail apartment with Leif and Katita three centimeters tall, visible only through lens. It structures **Spiral Descent** (film), where each chapter is nested inside the previous: the city locked in memory, memory in dream, dream in desert, desert in map, map in file folder, folder in Katita's wound. No exterior is ever reached. No reversal is ever achieved. The spiral descends.
The motif may represent the unjoined seam not as a problem to solve but as a geometry to inhabit. Breaking the cycle not through exit but through descent, not through reaching outward but through folding inward, until subject and object collapse into singularity. Some scholarship traces this to C. W. Smith's ontological essay: consciousness defined as "the gap that turns itself inside out."
