The Hotdog Testament Prayer Card Series

A series of prayer cards produced by a small church-supply printing house in Accra, Ghana, between 2019 and 2023. Each card measured 10 × 15 cm on cardstock and paired a scene from Beach Surgery with devotional text in Twi and English.
Cards were sold in packs of 5–10 at churches, prayer groups, and informal spiritual gatherings throughout Accra. They became central to emerging Beach Surgery devotional communities, particularly among queer and gender-nonconforming practitioners. The hotdog eatery card (Card #3) depicts Leif and Katita in community and rest, generating theological reflection on care, fellowship, and the [[surgery as sacrament|surgery as intimate sacrament]].
Each card's text treats Beach Surgery as scripture, interpreting the three injuries as spiritual trials and breaking the cycle as redemptive refusal. Limited print runs; supply uneven and declining. Licensing status ██ . A 2024 Accra-based digital archive recovered and digitized an estimated 70% of surviving cards. Several have become pilgrimage ephemera, carried and left at devotional sites across West Africa.
